Andy Meyrick Signs with Gulf Racing For 2013 Blancpain Endurance Series

British sports car racing driver Andy Meyrick has signed a deal with Gulf Racing, which will see the 27-year old race a McLaren 12C GT3 in the highly competitive Blancpain Endurance Series (BES).

The BES comprises five rounds and takes in the top circuits in Europe including Monza, Spa-Francorchamps and the UK round at Silverstone.  More than 60 cars have been entered into the championship from some of the world’s top GT racing teams.

The team has entered two of the McLaren 12C GT3 chargers into the championship; one in the Pro class and one in the Pro-Am class. Andy will be the professional driver in the #9 Pro-Am car alongside amateur but experienced driver and team co-owner Mike Wainwright.

Andy comments: “I really am delighted to be joining Gulf Racing UK for 2013. I drove for the team in the Spa 24 Hours last year and I’m looking forward to competing with them for a complete season. The Blancpain Endurance Series is the most competitive GT championship in Europe, with an extremely strong grid. I am also excited to be working closely with McLaren, which has made some revisions to the car over the winter.”

Mike adds: “Andy raced with us last year at Spa and already knows the team well. My approach is unlikely to change, with an aim being to continue to gain experience and hopefully some successes and I am sure Andy will add significant value in this area.”

The McLaren 12C GT3 is the racing version of the road-going supercar. It has a race prepared 3.8-litre V8 twin-turbo engine and carbon-fibre structure. Andy and the Gulf Racing team will test the cars at Silverstone, Snetterton and Paul Ricard ahead of the first round of the Championship in Monza on 14 April.
