Andy Meyrick confirms Bentley drive for 2014

Accomplished sports car racer Andy Meyrick signs with M-Sport Bentley for the 2014 season. Meyrick, 28 and from Chester, will drive the new Bentley Continental GT3 car with the works-supported team. Starting with the five rounds of the Blancpain Endurance Series, Andy will be looking to challenge for race victories after a strong off-season of testing and development with the car.

After bringing the car home to a stunning fourth place finish in the Continental GT3’s test race debut at the Gulf 12 Hours in Abu Dhabi in December, Andy will once again drive with his fellow British countrymen Guy Smith and Steven Kane. The team has developed a strong working relationship both on the track and off it, training hard together over the winter to ensure they’re in peak physical condition for the gruelling endurance championship, which includes a 24-hour race.

Speaking about his confirmation as a new Bentley Boy, Andy says:
“I’m absolutely thrilled to have secured the drive with M-Sport Bentley for the year ahead. Ever since I first drove the Continental GT3 I knew it had potential to be a great car, and after a winter of hard work with the team I know we’ve got a really quick and reliable machine. I’m looking to build on my experience with the Blancpain Series from last year, and together with Guy and Steven I’m confident we can have a great season.”

Alongside his racing duties in Europe, Andy will continue to drive the DeltaWing prototype coupe as part of the Tudor United Sportscar Championship. He comments: “I’m also really pleased to be able to continue with the DeltaWing. The Bentley and the Delta are very dissimilar cars that require different driving styles, so doing both will continue to push me to develop as a driver. Hopefully we can see success on both sides of the Atlantic over the coming months.”

Andy’s first race of the year in the Continental GT3 will be the opening round of the Blancpain Endurance Series at Monza, over the weekend of 12 – 13 April.

The team will provide live updates from the race on Twitter at @BentleyComms, and Andy will also give his thoughts over the weekend via @AndyMeyrick.
