Feb. 11, 2020. Manchester, GB. –
Andy Meyrick joins the new JMW Motorsport and Bentley Motorsports alliance that will compete in the 2020 GT World Challenge Asia Championship. JMW Motorsport’s entry into the Asian GT3 Championship sees Meyrick as the Pro in the Pro-Am pairing with Indonesian, Andrew Haryanto.
This is an exciting return to Asia for Meyrick who has predominantly raced in Europe, North America and the U.A.E. During his time as a Bentley works driver in 2015, Meyrick raced two rounds of this Asia GT3 Championship; Sepang and Shanghai, with the works M-Sport Bentley team.
“Racing in Sepang and Shanghai back in 2015 were incredible experiences and I’ve always wanted to go back,” said Meyrick. “Racing new tracks is going to be a welcome challenge and I look forward to it.
“I have been watching Jim and JMW since I first got into the sportscar paddock in 2009 and I have seen them prove time and again that they are a very professional and well-run outfit. I’ve got a wonderful teammate in Andrew as he’s a proven front runner in GT Asia. It’s going to be a very exciting year for all of us, and obviously I’m delighted to be behind the wheel of the Bentley once again.”
Following a successful 2019 campaign in GT4, the return to GT3 is a welcome opportunity for Meyrick. As for JMW, they return to GT3 off the back of three very successful LMGTE campaigns in the European Le Mans Series.
“I’m thrilled with this new partnership”, said Jim McWhirter. “Our involvement with Bentley and the GT World Challenge Asia is an expansion for the JMW Motorsport name. Having Andy Meyrick onboard will be a real asset. He is extremely experienced, and he knows the cars well.”
