Andy Meyrick and Stephen Pattrick, co-driving the #33 Bullitt Racing Mercedes AMG GT4, achieved a second- and a third-place podium at this weekend’s GT4 South European Series sixth and final round of 2019. The race weekend was held at the Autódromo do Estoril, a new track for both Meyrick and the team.

Both drivers put on a strong performance in qualifying with Pattrick securing his first ever pole for Sunday morning’s Race 1, and Meyrick a third-place position despite weather-related challenging track conditions for Sunday afternoon’s Race 2.

Starting Race 1 on pole, Pattrick drove well but unfortunately dropped back to fifth prior to handing the car to Meyrick. After a very impressive pit stop by the Bullitt Racing crew, Meyrick returned to the track in fourth and chased down the leaders. With three laps to go, Meyrick was up in second and maintained this position to cross the finish line.

In race 2, Meyrick started in third, but given the severity of the weather conditions, the race was started behind the safety car. After five laps, the race was red flagged, but with the promise the race would continue. The race restarted, but once again, the field was behind the safety car. During this time Pattrick took over from Meyrick, returning to the track in third, the position he held until the chequered flag.

What an incredible performance by Stephen. I am so proud of all the effort he has put in this year to improve. For him to secure the pole in the final qualifying session of the year is fantastic, and to follow with two-out-of-two podiums is incredible. The team have done a fantastic job all year and I’m very excited about Bullitt Racing’s 2020 season.
