Meyrick Takes The Triple

Andy Meyrick delivered a flawless drive this weekend at the Red Bull Ring for the third round of the GT4 Series Northern Cup.

Saturday saw a challenging, wet qualifying session for Meyrick and the Bullitt Racing team. Heavy thunder storms had battered the track during the night and only just ceased moments before the lights went green.

On a packed grid of over thirty other cars Meyrick battled for clear air during qualifying.

However, just 2 laps before the chequered flag he lit up the timing screens laying down an impressive 1:48.519 and took the all important pole position by just 0.073s!

In recognition of his fantastic pole lap Meyrick was presented with a ‘Certina’ watch by the new GT4 Championship sponsors.

Lights went out for Sunday’s race just after 11am local time and Stephen Pattrick took charge of the opening stint delivering an impressive drive.

15 laps later, he handed over the Bullitt Racing #33 McLaren 570S to Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital patron Andy Meyrick.

After the stop Meyrick rejoined the race in P22.

During his stint Meyrick overtook 14 competitors and set the fastest lap of the race.

As the chequered flag dropped Meyrick finished the race in P8 overall, and an impressive P2 in the Pro/AM class.

This rounded off a fantastic weekend for Meyrick, having finished FP1, FP2, Qualifying and both races with the fastest lap.

Meyrick said:

“What a great weekend with Bullitt Racing! Considering that this was only the third ever race meeting as a new team, the result is outstanding.

“Stephen was fantastic all weekend, he really put in a competitive stint and drove exceptionally well.

“The car felt amazing and I can’t wait to get to the next race at Slovakia Ring 15-16th July.

“Up next for me is Le Mans in the LMP3 with Motorsport 98″.
